In most instances, the pacing guides were modeled from the pacing guides that the state sent out. Some changes, however, were made based upon a progression of skills.

The Kindergarten pacing guide was built as a progression of skills and planned to facilitate the best time to teach certain themes, i.e. plants and animals in the spring.

The 1st grade pacing guide begins with an introduction to weather and seasonal patterns which will be continued throughout the school year. There is some progression of skills with the plants and animals unit in the spring.

The 2nd grade pacing guide was built as a progression, ending with plants and animals in the spring. The second unit in the pacing guide will provide an opportunity to apply math skills that are introduced in the first 2nd grade pacing guide for math.

The 3rd grade pacing guide begins with Rocks, Soil, and Fossils which gives 3rd graders a great experience to engage them in science and ends with a unit on heat which is best taught when the temperature is warmer.

The pacing guides for 4th, 5th, and 6th grade are built upon a progression of skills.
